George Myers

George Wright Myers was born on 13 February 1908, the son of Ernest and Clara Myers. He was educated at Whitgift Middle School. He joined the staff of Glyn, Mills & Co in January 1925 at its head office in Lombard Street, London. 

 

In August 1941 Myers left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Flying Officer Myers drowned on 14 July 1943 whilst rescuing two of his men just off Perranporth beach, Cornwall. He was 35 years old and left a widow, Lily, whom he had married in 1933.
