Graham Wells Morris was born on 14 November 1917. He went to work for Westminster Bank at its London Hounslow branch in July 1935.

 

In May 1939, shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War, Morris joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was keen to become a pilot, and spent most of his weekends at a flying school. By the time war broke out in September 1939 he was undergoing training as a Sergeant Pilot. He gained his wings in April 1940 and a commission the following month. 

 

He served with Coastal Command before being transferred to the Middle East in September 1941. He was killed on 13 December 1941 after his plane took off from Derna aerodrome in Libya on a mission to intercept enemy aircraft. Flying Officer Morris was 24 years old.
