John Alexander Moore was born on 4 July 1922, the son of Thomas and Muriel Moore. In January 1940 he joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank, working initially at its branch in Douglas, Isle of Man. After a month he transferred to Port St Mary branch.

 

Moore later left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Sergeant in the base signal and radar unit of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He died in Belgium on 7 November 1944. He was 22 years old.
