Norman Ernest Myring was born on 26 May 1920, the son of Ernest and Louie Myra Myring. In October 1937 he went to work for Westminster Bank at its Birmingham Colmore Row branch. 

 

In November 1940 Myring left the bank to join the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, completing his training in Canada and the Unites States of America. Pilot Officer was killed in action on his first operational flight on 3 April 1942. He was 21 years old and had recently become engaged to be married.
