David Nicoll

David Nicoll was born in Burntisland, Fife, in 1921, the son of William Anderson Nicoll and his wife Isabella Jane. He worked for Commercial Bank of Scotland at its Dunfermline branch. 

 

During the Second World War Nicoll left the bank to go on military service, and by 1945 he was a Captain in the Scinde Horse. He was killed in action in Italy on 23 February 1945. He was 23 years old. 

 

David Nicoll is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Gogarburn campus, Edinburgh
