David Langley Parker was born on 2 March 1920, the son of Archibald and Dorothy Parker. He was educated at County School for Boys, Beckenham. He joined the staff of Glyn, Mills & Co in June 1939 at its head office in Lombard Street, London.

 

Later that year Parker left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. On 19 September 1940, Pilot Officer Parker was killed while he was serving with an operational training unit. He was 20 years old.
