Godfrey Ronald Price was born on 20 September 1921, the son of Godfrey Horace Reginald and Evelyn Hayes Price. Godfrey senior was a bank manager for Lloyds Bank, but in November 1939 Godfrey junior joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank, working initially at the bank's London Lothbury head office before transferring to its Worcester branch in April 1940. 

 

In July 1940 he left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. He was mentioned in dispatches in August 1942 'for bravery in action against the enemy, while serving in HM motor torpedo boats off the Belgian coast'. He died on 28 February 1943. He was 21 years old and left a widow, Margaret, whom he had married just weeks earlier.

 

Godfrey Price is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Worcester Cross branch.
