Harold Wright Postle was born on 5 May 1906, the son of Harold and Sarah Ann Postle. He joined the staff of District Bank as a junior at its head office in Manchester in October 1922. He worked in a number of branches in the Greater Manchester area, including Ashton, Stalybridge, Droylsden and Denton. He was promoted to clerk at Hyde branch in 1930 moved back to head office, to the ledgers department, in November 1940.

 

In September 1941 Postle left the bank to go on war service, joining the King's Regiment (Liverpool). By 1944 he was serving in India, and it was there, on 30 May 1944, that Private Postle was killed in action. He was 38 years old.
