John David George Pegrum was born in London on 4 May 1923, the son of George William and Ethel May Pegrum. He worked for Westminster Bank, probably as part of its temporary wartime staff, at its London Berners Street branch.

 

He subsequently left the bank to go on war service, and by 1945 was a Lieutenant in the Royal Marines. He died in Italy on 11 April 1945. He was 21 years old.

 

John Pegrum is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Dean Street branch.
