Maurice John Robertson was born on 16 October 1923, the son of Alfred Maurice Robertson and his wife Hilda Florence. He joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank in August 1940, and after completing a month's training at the bank's machine accountancy school was posted to London Mincing Lane branch. 

 

He later left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Sergeant (Air Bomber) in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was killed in action over Germany on 26 August 1944. He was 20 years old.

 

Maurice Robertson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Fenchurch Street branch.
