Noel Vernon Roberts was born on 19 January 1923, the son of Henry Tertius Montague Roberts and his wife Maud. He joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank at its London Sussex Gardens (Paddington) branch in September 1940. 

 

He later left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Flight Sergeant in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He died in Burma on 11 January 1945, a few days before his 22nd birthday.

 

Noel Roberts is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Paddington branch.
