Owen John Robinson was born on 13 August 1924, and joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank at its Bath branch in March 1941. He later left the bank to join the merchant navy. 

 

On 16 May 1942 he was part of the crew of the British motor tanker San Victorio which was struck and sunk by a torpedo from a German U boat. Cadet Robinson was one of 52 crew and passengers lost. He was 17 years old.
