Kenneth Patrick Sexton was born on 16 March 1916, the son of Henry and Emma Sexton. He was educated at County High School for Boys, Ilford. He joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at Romford branch in October 1934. He was promoted to junior clerk a few months later and to clerk in January 1937. He moved to Chelmsford branch in December 1937. 

 

He left the bank to go on military service in May 1940, joining the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Corporal Sexton was killed in a flying accident on 8 December 1941 when his Tiger Moth collided with another aircraft during a training flight. He was 25 years old.
