Thomas Sanderson

Thomas Sanderson was born in Melrose, Roxburghshire, in 1918, the son of David and May JL Sanderson. He worked for Commercial Bank of Scotland at its head office in Edinburgh. 

 

During the Second World War Sanderson left the bank to join the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. On 6 November 1942 he was part of the four-man crew of a Baltimore bomber based in Northern Egypt which took off on a mission and never returned; it was thought to have been shot down by enemy flak. Flight Sergeant Sanderson was 24 years old.
