Gerald Tyers

Bank: Westminster Bank

Place of work: Bath branch

Gerald Alec Tyers was born on 1 August 1921 and joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank at its Bath branch in April 1940. He resigned four months later, just after his 19th birthday, possibly to volunteer for war service.

Tyers' former colleagues at the bank later heard that he had been killed. He was thus added to the list of the bank's Fallen staff, and his name was included in Bath branch's war memorial. It now appears that this may have been a mistake, and Tyers did not die in the Second World War.
