Reginald Griffiths Tree was born on 11 April 1908, the son of Emma and James George Tree. He was educated at Acton County School.

 

In May 1924 Tree joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at its Kingston upon Thames branch. He was promoted to clerk in April 1927. He moved to Surbiton branch in 1927 and to City Office branch in 1929. In 1933 he married Marie in Kensington. He moved to the bank's Sloane Street branch in 1936 and to Mount Street branch a year later. 

 

On the outbreak of war Tree left his job at the bank to serve in the armed forces. On 25 August 1942, when he was serving with the Royal Tank Regiment, Captain Reginald Tree was killed on active service in the UK. He was 34 years old and left his widow, Marie.
