Andrew McKenzie Watson was born in Kelso in 1915, the son of James Murray Watson and his wife Catherine Scott Watson. He worked for Commercial Bank of Scotland.

 

During the Second World War Watson left his job at the bank's Comrie branch to go on military service. He was commissioned in January 1943. Second Lieutenant Watson of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps died on active service in Northern Ireland on 10 August 1943. He was 28 years old.
