Peter McKenzie Willis was born on 29 August 1912, the son of Charles Frederick Willis and Lucy Alice Willis. He was educated at Eton College.

 

In August 1930 Willis joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at its London Mayfair branch. He was promoted to clerk in January 1933 and moved to London Platt's Lane Corner branch in 1935. Two years later he moved to Piccadilly branch. 

 

On the outbreak of war Willis left his job at the bank to join the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. On 23 November 1942 Flying Officer Peter Willis was killed in a flying accident in Egypt. He was 30 years old.
