Peter Beresford Wright was born on 28 October 1920, the son of Walter and Winifred Wright. He was educated at Bristol Grammar School and joined the staff of Westminster Bank at its Frome branch in August 1938.

 

In July 1940 Wright left the bank to join the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He obtained a commission in April 1942 and was promoted to Flying Officer later that year. In spring 1943 he was promoted to Flight Lieutenant and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross ‘in recognition of gallantry displayed in flying operations against the enemy’. He was killed during air operations on 5 April 1943. He was 22 years old.
