Thomas David Williams was born on 5 January 1911, the son of David and Mary Anne Williams. He was educated at Llandovery County School.

 

In February 1929 Williams joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at its Newtown branch. He was promoted to clerk in July 1931 and moved to Towyn branch in 1935. Three years later he moved to the bank's London City office. 

 

On the outbreak of war Williams left his job at the bank to join the army. By 1943 he was serving with the 78th Infantry Division of the Royal Artillery in Italy. On 4 October 1943 Gunner Thomas Williams was killed in action. He was 32 years old.
