Wilfred Norman Williams was born on 10 August 1905, the son of Septimus Williams, a clerk, and his wife Annie Charlotte. He joined the staff of London County Westminster & Parr's Bank (later known as Westminster Bank) on his 17th birthday, 10 August 1922. He worked for the bank for the next 18 years, and also served as secretary of the St Albans district of the bank’s staff guild.

 

Williams was killed in an air raid on 28 February 1941 just around the corner from his home in Ruislip, where he had worked for the bank’s local branch for the past four years. He was 35 years old and left a widow, Gwendoline, whom he had married in 1935, and a young son.

 

Wilfred Williams is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Ruislip branch.
