Harry Duckitt

Harry Duckitt was born in Doncaster in 1893, the son of William and Ellen Duckitt. He grew up in Glasgow, and in 1900 went to work for Commercial Bank of Scotland. In August 1914 he was appointed accountant at the bank's Rutherglen branch.

 

During the First World War Duckitt left the bank to go on military service as a Private in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles). He was killed in action on the Somme on 29 October 1916.

 

Harry Duckitt is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.
