Percy John Evans was born on 17 October 1892, the son of John Evans, a bank messenger, and his wife Clara Annie. In December 1909, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for Williams Deacon's Bank, working at London St Mary Axe branch, and later, London Charing Cross branch.

 

During the First World War Evans joined the army, serving as a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. He died at Rouen, France on 18 March 1917 of wounds received in action. He was 24 years old.

 

Percy Evans is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Hardman Boulevard office, Manchester
