Andrew Glen was born in Grangemouth on 31 May 1890, the son of David and Isabella Marshall Glen. In 1905 he went to work for Commercial Bank of Scotland and in May 1910 was transferred to the bank's London office.

 

During the First World War Glen left the bank to go on military service. Serjeant Andrew Glen of the Royal Berkshire Regiment was severely injured on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, 1 July 1916, and died of his wounds over three weeks later, on 25 July 1916. He was 26 years old.

 

Andrew Glen is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.
