Neason Henry Hale was born in Ballymoney, County Antrim, in 1894, the son of William and Annie Rose Hale. He worked for Ulster Bank in Belfast, and later at Naas branch.

 

In January 1916 Hale left the bank to join the army, becoming a Rifleman in the Royal Irish Rifles. He was killed in action in Belgium on 16 August 1917. He was 22 years old.

 

Neason Hale is commemorated on two memorials at Ulster Bank’s Belfast head office: its roll of honour for staff who served in the First World War and its memorial for those who fell.
