Charles Duncan McCammon was born in County Down, Ireland, on 25 March 1892. He worked for Ulster Bank.

 

In October 1914 McCammon left his job at the bank's Belfast head office to join the army. By 1916 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, on active service in France. He was killed in action there on 3 July 1916. He was 24 years old.

 

Charles McCammon is commemorated on two memorials at Ulster Bank’s Belfast head office: its roll of honour for staff who served in the First World War and its memorial for those who fell.
