George Wright

George Frederick Wright was born in Glasgow on 14 October 1890, the son of Andrew Wright, a tea agent, and his wife Annie. The family moved to Lancashire soon after he was born, and he grew up in Pendleton.

 

In February 1916 Wright left his job in the Manchester head office of Williams Deacon's Bank to join the army. Corporal George Frederick Wright of the Royal Fusiliers was killed in action on the Western Front on 3 May 1917. He was 26 years old.
