Died: 12 August 1942

Alan Nunn was born on 2 June 1920, the son of Sidney and Rosie Nunn. He joined the staff of Westminster Bank in June 1937, working in its London Threadneedle Street office. A colleague later remembered him as being 'a most painstaking, studious and intelligent officer and was very popular with everyone. He had an engaging smile, and a quiet but keen sense of humour.'

In November 1940 Nunn left the bank to join the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. By summer 1942 he was an aircraft navigator for planes based on the carrier HMS Victorious, which was covering a convoy to Malta. Sub-Lieutenant Nunn was killed in action on 12 August 1942 when his plane crashed into the sea near the North African coast. He was 22 years old.

Alan Nunn is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
